Day 2 was dedicated to our paediatric clinic and proved to be one of the most emotionally impactful days of the outreach for both volunteers and clinicians.
We supported children presenting with malnutrition, high fever, malaria and other preventable conditions, many of which are closely linked to poverty, food insecurity and limited access to healthcare. The day powerfully illustrated how a child’s environment can significantly influence their growth, development and overall wellbeing.
A key part of our response to paediatric malnutrition was made possible through the generous sponsorship of 80 boxes of food supplements by Ariel Foods FZE. These supplements were distributed to children identified as nutritionally vulnerable, providing immediate nutritional support while also reinforcing the importance of sustained access to adequate food for healthy development.
Beyond clinical care, Day 2 offered an important lesson in health inequality. We witnessed firsthand how structural barriers, limited resources and economic hardship can shape a child’s health outcomes long before they are able to advocate for themselves.
This day reaffirmed the heart of our organisation’s name, Hope Across Ages. Our mission is intentionally intergenerational, recognising that sustainable change must support both the young and the old, while strengthening families and communities as a whole.
